Focusrite’s Guitar FX Plug-in Suite: includes eleven professional VST/AU plug- ins, ideal for today’s guitarist. These include five of the world’s finest guitar amp models and four distortion pedal effects, all courtesy of Italian software company ‘Overloud’; experts in the field of accurate Guitar Amp modeling. The amp models include plug-ins based on the Vox AC30, Marshall JCM900, Fender Twin, MESA Boogie Rectifier and the Fender Bassman. The pedal models include plug-ins based on the Boss DS-1, the Ibanez Tube Screamer, the Electro Harmonix Big Muff and the Dunlop Fuzz Face.

The amp and pedal models utilise Overloud’s renowned analogue modelling technology, which faithfully reproduces every detail of an analogue tone. It also ensures perfect reproduction of parameter behaviour, so you always feel like you’re controlling the real hardware. With Overloud’s analogue modelling technology, each component of the schematic has its own mathematical model. After this rather raw scientific step, the resulting tone is fine tuned by ear. Overloud don’t, unlike many modelling companies, use standard widely available DSP techniques to obtain a tone that only vaguely resembles the original one. Instead, custom developed non-standard DSP techniques reproduce every detail of the original tone.

Finally, each Guitar FX Suite plug-in provides a host of initial pre-sets, providing a number of great tones for you to audition immediately. You can also save and recall custom pre-sets, building a vast library of your own customised tones over time.

Focusrite’s Plug-in Suite: Saffire PRO 40, Liquid Saffire 56 and Saffire PRO 24 include the Focusrite plugin suite, produced by the same team that developed Novation’s nio FX rack and Saffire Mix Control. They provide the perfect upgrade from your standard sequencer effects with all-new Focusrite Compression, Reverb, Gating and EQ VST/AU plug-ins, for use in the mix.

Each plug-in has a host of pre-sets that provide a reasonable starting point, delivering suitable solutions for the chosen sound source. Having selected a preset, you can then go on to finely tune these settings.
The compressor and gate have been modeled on the Focusrite’s hardware devices, using the measurement of custom optos to achieve the signature Focusrite sound. (All Focusrite optos are tuned by ear, just like in the old days of analog design, ensuring a faithful recreation of those classic vintage 1960s optical compressors.)

With the same signature as the original Focusrite EQ curves. Focusrite’s R&D team used state-of-the-art numerical transform techniques to create an authentic response across the entire audible frequency spectrum for this software EQ.

The Reverb is based on classic algorithmic studio reverb designs.

Em nossa forma mais banal de ser humano

O senhor Jerôme Valcke, secretário-geral da FIFA, segundo a imprensa nacional e internacional, repetiu, entre irônico, sarcástico e aborrecido, o conjunto de explicações que constantemente ouve dos brasileiros com quem conversa a respeito da Copa de 2014:

"nossos principais problemas são construir estádios, construir aeroportos, construir estradas, fazer funcionar um sistema de telecomunicações, resolver as acomodações", mas "fora isso, trabalharemos para que tudo funcione".

O presidente Lula não gostou. Na verdade, ele se ofendeu e reagiu à altura. À sua altura, evidentemente:

"Terminou a Copa da África do Sul agora e começam a dizer 'cadê os aeroportos brasileiros, os estádios brasileiros, os corredores de trem, os metrôs?', como se nós fossemos um bando de idiotas que não soubéssemos fazer as coisas e definir nossas prioridades".

Será? E quais são as nossas prioridades?

Se forem as obras para a festa de 2014, estamos realmente muito atrasados. Diria que temos um atraso de uns 5 anos. E uso como régua as obras de reforma do Palácio do Planalto! Um prédio de linhas sofisticadas, mas simples, uma casa grande, é isso que é o Palácio do Planalto.

Pois bem, segundo o representante do arquiteto Oscar Niemeyer, em carta assinada e talvez até rubricada: "O que está sendo feito é de péssima qualidade. Estou perplexo diante de tanto descaso e despreparo".

Apesar do prazo estourado, da entrega da obra já ter sido adiada por três vezes, as falhas encontradas são tantas que até foi questionada a segurança da estrutura do prédio. São tantos os erros a serem corrigidos que a entrega da obra foi adiada mais uma vez e agora se fala que o presidente só voltará a trabalhar lá em agosto.

Deus permita, porque francamente, se esse é o exemplo da mão de obra com que contamos para as obras que a FIFA exige, acho que essa Copa terá que ser adiada para 2041!

Será que a FIFA não exagera um pouco? Quem dá a essa entidade tantos poderes?

Um economista, Stefan Szymanski, e um jornalista, Simon Kuper, escreveram um livro chamado “Soccernomics” no qual dizem o seguinte: "Os brasileiros deveriam ter em mente que, independentemente do que o governo diz, a Copa não os tornará mais ricos como um todo, embora o evento possa ser uma bela oportunidade para quem é dono de uma empresa construtora de estádios. Nós prevemos com confiança que o contribuinte brasileiro gastará mais com a Copa do que dizem as estimativas iniciais".

E Simon Kuper diz mais: “Se o presidente Lula quisesse ser honesto quanto à Copa, diria: ‘Vai custar dinheiro, sobrará menos para escolas, hospitais, mas todos adoramos futebol e será um mês divertido, portanto vale a pena’. O erro é achar que a Copa fará do Brasil um país mais rico”.

Isso tudo e muito mais li no caderno Especial da Folha de São Paulo, editado em 12 de julho. É rico em informações e ainda nos lembra algo que procuramos não ver: é um jogo. Podemos perder ou ganhar. Já pensaram nisso?

Eu concordo com o presidente Lula. Nós, brasileiros, não somos um bando de idiotas. Nós nos fazemos de idiotas quando isso nos interessa. Mas negligentes somos, descansados, também, e arrogantes, muito.

Agora mesmo aceitamos que o presidente enviasse ao Congresso um projeto “pioneiro”que pune os pais que maltratam fisicamente os filhos. Foi uma solenidade e tanto. Do tipo que só Brasília produz.

E soube de uma coisa impressionante: sou filha adotiva do presidente do Brasil! Lula dixit: “Quem não trata bem seus filhos em casa não será um bom governante, pois não saberá lidar com os filhos "adotados eleitoralmente".

Agradeço aos céus termos tido um pai como o Lula, que educou tão bem seus filhos e que foi tão bem educado ele mesmo, só assim ele pode ser o grande pai-presidente que é.

Só duas coisas me intrigaram. A primeira: o presidente nunca apanhou de sua mãe, que era contra a violência, nem de seu pai, apesar desse ser chegado a um destempero. Como então ele sabe que um "beliscão dói para cacete"? Quem foi o audacioso que teve a coragem de dar um beliscão no presidente?

A segunda: na mesma ocasião, ele disse que os conservadores iam criticar o projeto antipalmada. Criticou acerbamente os pais de família brasileiros, que não têm tempo para os filhos, mas têm tempo para uma cervejinha. E encerrou com chave de platina:

“O máximo que o homem brasileiro aprendeu a fazer, na sua forma mais banal de ser humano, é ter orgulho de, quando o filho completasse 15 anos, levar ele a uma casa de prostituição para ter sua primeira experiência sexual. E o máximo, para o pai, é a filha ser virgem até o casamento”.

Não, não foi o presidente Epitácio Pessoa quem disse isso. Foi Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, em julho de 2010. Tenho a impressão que a garotada deve ter rido muito, isso depois de se informar sobre o que é uma casa de prostituição e o que vem a ser virgindade.

Idiotas? Não. Isso, não.
