Chaotic Music Maker is intended to be the fast and lightweight tool for music composing and experimenting. It utilizes both traditional (piano-roll, step-sequencer, envelopes, etc.) and non-traditional (text input, keyboard-based sequencing, auto-patterns, text-patterns, effect-symbols, etc.) approaches in order to achieve the most practical music creation environment.

Description:
Chaotic is the program for fast music creation and experimenting. Our goal was to create a music tool, that will be just as simple as Windows Notepad whilst allowing to create and manipulate complex musical patterns. So, although it can be classified as another software DAW, this is a composing tool in the first turn.

The basic composing feature, around which the rest of Chaotic functionality was built, is what we call “sequencing freedom”. Abstractly speaking, this is the ability to sequence any kind of stuff at any time without redundant limitations. The lack of such freedom often forces composers to search various workarounds in order to implement even trivial and obvious things, and it also makes the overall composition project too heavy and awkward for changing and experimenting with. With Chaotic, we are trying to minimize any kind of composing limitations.

• Universal composition arranger, utilizing keyboard input and allowing to sequence wide variety of elements — from text notes and bookmarks to instruments’ notes, automation envelopes and patterns in a single field;
• Three different pattern types: pianoroll, step sequencer and text pattern with ability to convert between types;
• Automation of any available parameter with envelopes, automation recording;
• Various effect symbols support: slide, vibrato, mute, reverse (for samples), transpose and so on;
• Autopatterns feature. Autopattern is the pattern, that you can define for any instrument to be triggered with every note of the instrument. For example, you can place some envelope into some instrument’s autopattern and easily implement sidechaining;
• Support for samples as usual instruments — basic sampler functionality integrated (looping, volume envelope, etc);
• Mixer with 32 independent channels + 3 send channels + 1 master channel;
• VST instruments and VST effects support;
• Built-in subtractive FM/RM synthesizer, 13 built-in DSP effects;
• Rendering into WAV, OGG Vorbis and FLAC formats;
• Primary use of linear sliders, instead of knobs, for adjusting various parameters;
• Lightweight and transportable installation. You can even copy the whole program directory to a flash drive and work from this flash drive on any machine you want;
• No loading time.

Focusrite’s Guitar FX Plug-in Suite: includes eleven professional VST/AU plug- ins, ideal for today’s guitarist. These include five of the world’s finest guitar amp models and four distortion pedal effects, all courtesy of Italian software company ‘Overloud’; experts in the field of accurate Guitar Amp modeling. A ‘hot tuna’ guitar tuner and ‘smart’ hum remover are also provided.

The amp models include plug-ins based on the Vox AC30, Marshall JCM900, Fender Twin, MESA Boogie Rectifier and the Fender Bassman. The pedal models include plug-ins based on the Boss DS-1, the Ibanez Tube Screamer, the Electro Harmonix Big Muff and the Dunlop Fuzz Face.

The amp and pedal models utilise Overloud’s renowned analogue modelling technology, which faithfully reproduces every detail of an analogue tone. It also ensures perfect reproduction of parameter behaviour, so you always feel like you’re controlling the real hardware. With Overloud’s analogue modelling technology, each component of the schematic has its own mathematical model. After this rather raw scientific step, the resulting tone is fine tuned by ear. Overloud don’t, unlike many modelling companies, use standard widely available DSP techniques to obtain a tone that only vaguely resembles the original one. Instead, custom developed non-standard DSP techniques reproduce every detail of the original tone.

Finally, each Guitar FX Suite plug-in provides a host of initial pre-sets, providing a number of great tones for you to audition immediately. You can also save and recall custom pre-sets, building a vast library of your own customised tones over time.

Focusrite’s Plug-in Suite: Saffire PRO 40, Liquid Saffire 56 and Saffire PRO 24 include the Focusrite plugin suite, produced by the same team that developed Novation’s nio FX rack and Saffire Mix Control. They provide the perfect upgrade from your standard sequencer effects with all-new Focusrite Compression, Reverb, Gating and EQ VST/AU plug-ins, for use in the mix.

Each plug-in has a host of pre-sets that provide a reasonable starting point, delivering suitable solutions for the chosen sound source. Having selected a preset, you can then go on to finely tune these settings.
The compressor and gate have been modeled on the Focusrite’s hardware devices, using the measurement of custom optos to achieve the signature Focusrite sound. (All Focusrite optos are tuned by ear, just like in the old days of analog design, ensuring a faithful recreation of those classic vintage 1960s optical compressors.)

With the same signature as the original Focusrite EQ curves. Focusrite’s R&D team used state-of-the-art numerical transform techniques to create an authentic response across the entire audible frequency spectrum for this software EQ.

The Reverb is based on classic algorithmic studio reverb designs.
